¿Can i use this 2x6pin PSU with my 1x6pin 1x8pin GPU?

Hello, i have been reading about this for like 12 hours straight and i'm still not 100% sure this will work for my specific hardware.

I have a OCZ StealthXStream 600 W PSU, it haves two 6pin pci-e connectors, i want to use it to power a EVGA GTX 280 which uses 1x6pin and 1x8pin pci-e connectors.

A good read about the PSU can be found here

I have done my reading and i'm pretty sure this PSU can handle the card without problems, i found people online who have that card (and even newer/power hungrier ones) working with the same PSU (i only have 1 hard drive and a dvd drive, nothing else draining any significant power, mobo uses 4 pin power for the cpu.)

If i get this right, those extra pins on the 8 connector are just ground pins that tell the GPU that it can draw 150W from that rail.

I was just supposing that, but i found an answer in one of the hundred threads i had read today that seems to confirm it.

And for what i understand, my PSU only have 6pin connectors because of it's age, not because it can't deliver that wattage.

I can't find 6pin to 6+2pin adapters in my country, so i wonder, ¿can i just solder in the 2 extra pins to one of the 6pin connectors?, or even better, ¿can i just jump the pins up like this

to avoid soldering/messing with the PSU connectors?

FYI, i'm not doing this because i want overkill power or something, this card wont turn on without the 8pins connected.

¿What do you mean by "truly" work? If i payed enough attention to my electronic classes, those 2 extra pins are just grounding to the ground cables on the normal 6pin connector, no power going on there, ¿so just jumping them together isn't the exact same thing as using an adapter? i couldn't find those adapters in my country, so i have to be a little bit more creative, ¿any opinions?

It doesn't, it only have 2x6pin connectors, maybe they where some variations, mine is like the one from the review i linked in the OP, if i just jump the 2 extra pins like in the example i gave on the first post I'll be okay?

By truly work I mean for it to reliably work every time. Although it my not be an option since you mentioned you cannot get those as easily in your country

How about shipping it through amazon?

Jumping might work but I wouldn't risk doing something unless you're at least 95% sure it wont backfire on you

And what i mean is that i think jumping the two cables is actually the same thing thing that using a 1x6pin to 1x6+2pin adapter, i have knowledge about electronic connections to some extent (I'm just not an expert), what I'm trying to explain is that the adapter just add 2 extra grounds connected to the existing ones in the 6pin, and grounds are just grounds, those extra 2 are just sticking to the existing ones in their respective cable, they transport no power, so just jumping them together seems like the same exact thing, i couldn't find any adapters here, and amazon is not an option sadly, but actually, if jumping them together is really going to cause the same effect, i don't see the reason to get an adapter besides aesthetic reasons, I'm just trying to get someone knowledgeable to confirm my theory.

I'm still waiting for a confirmation guys

¿Jumping the two extra ground pins together isn't the exact same thing as using a 6pin to 6+2pin adapter?
