Hello everyone!

I'm looking for some guidance on creating my first ever build.
I am a 3d animation/art student looking to upgrade this year so I can begin freelance work/ get job ready!
I need something that can handle the grunt of maya and zbrush and reduce hefty render times.
Ive done a little bit of research and put together this so far:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/HBfm6h

Approximate Purchase Date: within the week
Budget Range: ideally around $2000AUD, max $2300 (approx $1600USD)
System Usage from Most to Least Important: 3D Modelling, Animation and Rendering (zBrush, Blender, Maya 2016 etc., some Tvpaint), Adobe Photoshop, After Effects/Premiere pro... maybe a little bit of gaming e.e.
Are you buying a monitor: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: partpicker. newegg, center com, umart, IJK, scorptec, or International options OK
Location: Melbourne Australia
Overclocking: Doubtful
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Right now I'm struggling most with the motherboard, i chose the asusX99 but im a noob here- perhaps i could get away with something cheaper? I wouldnt mind cutting costs here if possible and maybe getting more storage.
I already have an antec df10 case but this supposedly wont work with the GTX970 so just picked the Deepcool TESSERACT- but suggestions welcome!
I also already have a seagate 1TB HHD and ol kingston 67SSD that could be used again..
Be great if you guys had any ideas for cutting costs so I could have more money to spend on updating peripherals .

Is this build overkill? or just plain dumb?
I definitely want to make something that is going to last me a good few years.

I would be so grateful for any feedback and help from you guys
Thank you!

The reason I was disappointed by the Australian budget is that you guys aren't getting Quadro cards for 3D work.

Aaaa thanks so much for your super quick reply!
Aha I'm sorry to disappoint you. We downunder always seem to lose out ...
Im really interested in your choices. I know nothing about the Xeon series.
Do you think if I increased the budget I would have significant advances in performance/ life of the build?
