Should I follow what ram will work with my mobo or just get any memory get me what I need?

One of the possible upgrades for my pc is going to be upping my ram to 32GB, which will be nice to have. But when i was looking at the online file about what ram will work with my mobo, It came to me asking do I need to follow that list of what ram to get for my mobo, or should I just get any ram that will give me what I'm looking for? My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK Black Edition with an i5 4690K.

The ram in the MVL is just a general guideline for ram modules which are certain to work, however every other should work as well, only in few cases it doesn't but it is most likely to work.

Ok So I can just get any 32GB (4 X 8GB) kit and just plug it in with no problem?

As long as it's a KIT yes. But if you are going for 4 then make sure it's a kit!

You can use any but if you want guarantees use one from the MVL. And don't mix RAM.

Ok Now the other question is which should I go for? My limit is the 32GB and my mobo said it can handle 3000, but I decided that 2400 is the sweet spot for what I want. SO which kit should I get?
