I cant find anywhere that has them in stock (Australia) not even on newegg.. Are these discontinued or am i just blind???

What would be the best alternative if i cant get one

It looks like Aussie retailers are de-stocking Haswell now Skylake is out, especially at the top end. Of the motherboards still available, the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 is the best under $300. There are no really good boards left, but this is a decent mid-range board.

Could you order from the USA?

The Z97-A is a solid board and Tradesman1 has built many systems fir his clients on it and they have all gotten good overclocking.

I have a Newegg account for school purchases and they say that they are out of stock of the ASUS board at the moment.

It is obsolescent, like last year's model of car. Still a good board and what are you supposed to do if you want to run an i7 4790K. However, stock is expensive and shops want to keep as little of it as possible.
