My system specs:
Gigabyte Z97X gaming 5
Corsair vengeance 8gbx2 1600MHz
I7 4790k
Msi gtx 980ti 6G
Psu Corsair HX850i
So I went to bios to try overclocking, I set my multiplier from 4.4 GHz to 4.6 GHz and V.core 1.250. And then I stressed the cpu using IBT using 30 loops and 10GB of RAM. I didn't get any bsod crash or anything and then I played game that used cpu intensive like ac unity, gta v, and syndicate. Everythings seems fine. Cpu max temp was at 75°C using hyper 212
But after that, i turned off the cpu for a while. About 2 hours after that I turned on again the pc and nothing happened, the pc won't turn on at all, the psu just made "click" sound like usual. PC won't even enter the POST, my led chassis fan and cpu fan didn't turn on either.
At the last pc turned on after I change wall socket to other wall socket, but if I turned off again, the problem was still there. So I must change wall socket to the other If I wanted turn on the pc. I decided to reset the multiplier to 4.4Ghz and v.core to 1.2 and everythings went back to normal again. No more turn on issue.
Any idea what happened to my cpu or mobo while I tried to overclock it? Any response I appreciate.
