Hi,

Recently I have over clocked my AMD FX 4170 cpu from 4.2 GHz to 4.7 GHz. The vcore is currently at 1.560 V.

I have run prime 95 small ftt test for over 5 hours. Max temp for 60. Average of 59. My idle temps are 23-24

I have been playing games for weeks with no crashing.

I was wondering whether I could up the voltage to around 1.6 vcore to up the clock speed even more.

Can I. Or will it just kill my chip?

Specs:
AMD FX 4170 - 4.7 Ghz (stock cooler)
AMD Radeon HD 7770
Gigabyte GA-7MLT-USB3
Phanteks Enthoo Pro

Thanks.

Temps are not all that matters. Some people have reached 5ghz at 1.58V at 45 degrees with water cooling, and still reported their chips died soon. It's not just the temps, going for such high voltage reduces the life of your CPU and might even kill it.
