I purchased a Kingston 120GB SSD.
I've installed it into the pc but there's a slight problem.
After initializing the SSD in Disk management to master boot record (As I want my ssd for boot up) the SSD shows as "Unallocated". I'm not to sure what this means but was wondering if you could help?

Also I can not see my SSD in my BIOS.
My aim is to have my HDD for documents and big files and SSD for OS ext.

Thank you in advance :D

You can download the Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File) from Microsoft here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

There are four editions available:
Windows 10
Windows 10 KN - Korea
Windows 10 N - Europe
Windows 10 Single Language

Due to an anti-competitive practices ruling by the European Commission in 2004, Microsoft has been forced to maintain special editions for its Windows operating systems. Labeled "N" for Europe and "KN" for Korea, these editions include all the base features of the operating system but without Windows Media Player and related technologies pre-installed. For the Windows 10 editions, this includes Windows Media Player, Music, Video, Voice Recorder and Skype.

Burning the image to a USB...

Have you booted from the windows install disk for a fresh install onto the SSD?

EDIT: Installing an SSD isn't quite the same as an HD, in case this is your first SSD. Make sure your BIOS is also updated, my BIOS wouldn't recognise my SSD until I'd updated it. If you've done all this and restarted ensuring your SSD is now your boot drive in BIOS I can't help anymore, but I'm sure someone more expereinced with SSDs will be along soon :)

Thank you for the quick reply. How do I update me BIOS ?

And yeah I'm a noob, this is the first time doing this for me

Which motherboard do you use?

Plug in the ssd into a native sata3 connector and set it in bios to ahci, if it's not set by default. Just install windows from USB stick or DVD, you don't have to prepare the ssd with a boot record or anything.

Which windows are you using?

Do you know the model of your motherboard? You'll be able to download the latest BIOS update from the company website, or maybe you can do it directly from the BIOS screen [strike]if you restart and press the 'delete' key to enter BIOS[/strike] sorry i read your comment about being a noob, but you know how to use bios :)

My motherboard is acer as my PC is prebuilt. And I'm on windows 10. I have no idea how to set it to "ahci" in BIOS, but I'm confident my SSD is connected to a SATA 3 port

Your ahci settings location depend on your bios. In my bios they're actually in the first menu. If you look through your settings it should be fairly easy to find, you'll probably see something currently set to IDE. As helpstar said, you will need to change that to ahci and then windows will boot from your SSD (hopefully!).

I found what you meant. My first AHCI slot was my SSD. and my second one was the Hard drive. What does this mean?

I've managed to format the SSD. The only thing I know about my motherboard is it's ACER. And the PC model is ACER PREDATOR 63-605. No label.

Now that's it's formatted how do I get a windows installation disk? I didn't receive one with my PC.

Burning the image to a USB flash drive is usually the best method unless your system doesn't support booting from that type of device. You can use a utility like WinToUSB or Rufus.
