Hey guys,

Backstory is this I tried to build a gaming pc and was meet with partial success. After installing all my components I booted up and it ran great untill I pushed in a loose fan header. There was a tiny spark and everything went dead. I am assuming it was some type of electrostatic buildup. Nothing worked after that so I bought another mobo (msi z170a m5) which sort of solved my problem. The system started up everything seemed to work but I began running into all sort of Windows errors trying to install win10 (0xc0000034, 0xc000001, 0xc000021a). I am stuck in a bsod boot loop that I have been trying to fix for days with no success. At one point I was able to make it through the installation only after I restarted my computer I was stuck in the boot loop all over again.

Now my question is how do I determine what the problem is or the problem component is? Could this be a faulty mobo? Could this be my processor or bad ssd drives? How do I figure this out. Time is against me since I ordered all this online. The one thing im sure of is I spent a lot of money.
Could that electrostatic buildup have damaged the processor or the fact that I get the computer to start up and sort of work rule that out. What about the motherboard itself how much impact does it have in the running of the software. Or does this come down to Windows. I fully understand this all very speculative but I need to know what parts I should return to start over.

List of parts
Intel i7-6700k
Corsair ddr4 2400 8g
1st damaged mobo gigabyte z170x gaimg 5 returning
2nd current mobo msi z170a m5
Corsair h100i gtx water cooler
Seasonic 550 gold semi-modular psu
NZXT h440
Pny 240ssd
SanDisk 240ssd
Nivida gforce gtx 980 4g

Please any advice is extremely helpful I just want this to work. Wondering if I should have just bought a prebuilt.

Thanks

okay so u tried installing windows to two ssds right.... if u have a HDD a spare one remove ur ssds completely and try installing windows to the hdd..... and remove ur graphics card and use the onboard for this....
remove the fan that was connected to the header that failed; perhaps the fan has a short in it.

Take everything out of the case to eliminate the possibility of shorts to the case.
I suggest you first remove the graphics card and test using just integrated graphics.
Run memtest86+ to check out the ram. You should get NO errors for a full pass or two.

Since you have two ssd's, try loading windows on the other one, perhaps the ssd has a problem.

I would love to test all of my hardware but the issue is I can't get windows to boot correctly. I am stuck in this infinite boot loop, I was able to get past the setup process only once by following this tutorial on you tube "HOW TO FIX PC BOOT CONFIGURATION DATA IS MISSING ERROR IF REPAIR AND REFRESH IS LOCKED." But that only lasted 30 minutes, when I was attempting to install my graphics driver the CPU restarted (as it normally would after installing the drivers) only after the restart it just rebooted back to the same bsod problems. I have tried installing windows to the other ssd but no joy with that it had the same boot problems, I can't see both ssd's being faulty. I am just trying to understand what my issue is whether it's windows, my motherboard, my cpu or what.

Could my CPU cause windows bsod errors or could it be my mobo causing these problems? I would like to understand the functionality of these parts to determine what component should be replaced. Yes the best thing to do is test each part individually but how would I go about doing that with a broken computer. Remember it won't boot to setup without crashing over and over again. So I can't run any programs or troubleshoot the problem.

1. If this was my CPU would my system even start up or would it just not work at all.
2. How much does my mobo effect the functions of windows or again because I am able to get the thing to boot up disqualify it from being my problem or is this just a faulty windows product?

The only parts that I know function as there are supposed to are my fans and water cooler, everything else is a mystery to me. I am really just trying to figure out where to start is all. I would take it to a repair shop but the thought of paying someone 200 or 300 dollars to tell me I have a bad mobo that needs to be replaced makes me apprehensive. Especially when I could have figured that out for myself, but then again I am no expert. I could live with having to purchase another mobo or windows for that matter but the thought of having to buy another cpu, ram, ssd, ect makes me cringe. That's why I have asked you guys what if anything I could do to maybe shorten the list of possible bad parts. I have read a lot of bad things about MSI and there quality control on mobos that's why I keep asking if that could cause these bsod errors. Could it be one component or is it possible everything. That is what I am trying to determine right now.
Again thank you for any and all suggestions, I really do appreciate.
I get that its hard to determine the issue from a far but unfortunately thats all I can do at the moment.

I wouldn't think it's the mobo because you bought another one and at least that helped.

1. What about the power supply? Is everything okay with it?
2. Do the ssds work properly? I mean fast as they should when installing stuff? Can you try with oder SATAS?

Sorry to read what happened man. I can imagine how you feel. Best of luck.
