I've tried searching for a solution to this, but the question is too complex I think. It's happened on a number of occasions, but not all the time.

The most recent example, is I installed Wampserver, I used it as I normally would. Later i closed it and exited it from the background processes. Today I try to find the desktop icon that I told it to put there, but it was not there. Then I go look for the folder C:wamp where I told it to install, and there is no folder there at all. I even search for "wamp" in the start menu, and all it finds is the install program.

Does anyone know why this would be happening? It has also happened on other occasions with different software, where install will say "SUCCESS!!!" but its not really.

---EDIT---
Okay so I set up folder options to show hidden folders. It revealed a folder called vtroot, and in this folder are two other folders called "HarddiscVolume2" and "HarddiscVolume3", and I found my wamp folder, but I am now wondering what this vtroot folder is. I told the software to install @ C:wamp

Solution
The answer is, that it is a Comodo antivirus issue. It creates the vtroot folder, in which it put some programs in sandbox (which you can't move to c: ). To fix this issue I "reset sandbox" (which deletes the vtroot folder), turned off sandbox for 60 min (you can choose permanent if you like), and reinstalled wamp. This put the folder where it needed to be, and everything is fine now.
