Hi guys, first time posting here, a rookie in computers and stuffs, so bare with me here and thanks in advance.

so my hdd failed, i bought a new one and reformatted it with a new installation of OS, fresh. i extracted my data from my failing hdd into an intermediate PC and saved my data there (docs, pics, etc...). I plugged in my freshly formatted hdd into the intermediate PC,dragged and dropped my files into the new one, but when i reconnected my hdd back to my own PC, the files doesnt show up, it all basically dissapeared, and explorer even shows my hdd as 690gb out of 700gb free, my files were around 300+ gbs at least

sorry guys, im a total noob, thanks in advance for any suggestions, constructive criticism.

Welcome to the community, jcenlee!

I'd recommend you to try transferring the data from the intermediate PC to yours using an external hard drive or some other storage device, instead of moving your internal system HDD around.
How did you transfer the data from the failed HDD and what was the amount of the damage? Failed drives due to too many bad sectors usually corrupt the data stored on the drive. If that was the case, I'm not sure if you'd be able to retrieve them properly. I'd suggest you to try opening them in the intermediate PC and check if the files appear healthy there. (Opening without any errors popping up)

If you don't have an external, I'd suggest you repeat the transfer with your internal drive. However, make sure that the data is being stored on it before unplugging it from the intermediate PC.

Keep me posted & Good luck!

hey!! thanks for the welcome! :)

i plugged it in using the extra SATA slot i took out from the DVD drive, straight into my intermediate PC's motherboard, i've had no luck at all trying to image/clone my hdd using macrium, hdd cant be accessed after restoring the image, seems like it isnt formatted or something. HDD isnt very bad, YET, but it's going bad, found a few bad sectors, BSOD getting more frequent. I retrieved the data from the bad hdd using the old way, drag and drop, data seem intact when accessing through the PC, dragged and dropped into my new hdd, everything seems fine, files are accessible, executable, but when i reinsert my hdd into my laptop, files just dissapeared, hdd shown blank in explorer, even tried chkdsk /r /f, recuva nothing works, nothing shows up inside found.000 .

Thanks!!! Really appreciate it :D

Hey there again, jcenlee!

I'd suggest you to check these threads from the community where users had similar issues with the same found.000 folder. Give their resolutions a try and let me know how it goes!

Good luck!

hey! i've read through this two threads, accessed the found.000 folder, but nothing's inside, hdd seems blank. Even tried recovery software, all showing nothing inside the hdd, leaves me wondering where the file could've gone. But it's all good now, i re-extracted all the data and used an external hdd, double work, double time, but it works, all good now. THANKS! SuperSoph_WD, appreciate it! :D
