Entire system issues after installing new PSU and evo 212, computer won't even boot

So yesterday I made a thread about how I changed my PSU from a NEX750G to a 750G2 in order to try and get rid of some coil whine I was having when running high GPU loads, especially in newer games. But that is a different problem entirely and I still have coil whine(I think, graphics card is soon to be RMA'd).

Today upon waking up I CANNOT get my computer to power on. I press the power button and all I hear is a click echoing from the PSU and a slight buzzing noise if I hold down the power button. My red mobo LEDS which usually "breathe" in and out are now a solid red. There is also a soft intermittent screeching coming from around the power supply which gets worse whenever I try to push the power button. I try turning the PSU on and off, nothing. I then notice that my case fan LED's which are built into my cases (corsair 500r) preinstalled fans are still lit up slightly, even though the computer AND power supply have been switched off.

I flipped the switch on my power strip which got everything off. Then after I turned the power switch and PSU back on did the computer boot up finally.

After that I tried putting the computer to sleep, upon trying to wake it up with my keyboard I hear a click from the computer and my computer goes from sleep to off. (but with those case fan LED's still slightly glowing) I do the power strip reset and get it running again.

I shut down the computer in windows, same story.

Restarting the computer in windows works just fine.

After some trial and error, I found that my computer only does this when my graphics card is plugged into my monitor, the card is a 980ti. (the soft screeching from the PSU is still present) Other USB peripherals are just fine. I get none of the above issues except the PSU screeching if I run my IGPU

[strike]Here is where another issue appears. When I was restarting and/or switching the computers power on and off I had weird artifacts appear on my screen when the asus logo came up before my windows booted. My computer then took me literally straight to my desktop, didn't ask me to sign or input a password in windows, straight to the desktop like I had put the computer to sleep and woke it up. It did this twice to me, once after I booted after exiting the BIOS, and another time before that but I can't remember if I was exiting the BIOS or booting normally.[/strike]

Figured out this only happens when my PC shuts off whenever I put it to sleep

I'm really unsure of what is wrong with my system now. I plan on trying it with a different graphics card, a friends old gtx 660 (will I need to change drivers or can I just swap them?) and see if that changes anything. I also put in a CM hyper evo 212 whenever I put in my new power supply, my temps are just fine but is it possible I bent some pins on my i7 6700k when installing?

Let me know if there is anything else I should try. Or if anyone in the Houston area knows a decent place I could take it to since I'm fairly limited on time, as college classes are starting up again next week and I won't have as much time to be working on this.

Will be contacting EVGA soon as well.

So the booting straight into the desktop is re-creatable, it only does it if I put the computer to sleep and then boot it after doing the power strip reset. Didn't see any strange artifacts this time. So that issue must be related to my initial power issue.

I would think if the PSU is DOA I wouldn't be able to do anything at all? I was playing games for hours last night with no issues. I do agree with you though and think its the new PSU.

Hopefully someone else can provide input on what they think is wrong, but all the evidence does point to the PSU. Too bad also, the G2 is one of the highest quality PSUs on the market.

Try this, remove your graphics card, use the onboard graphics, and see if you encounter any problems.

That's why I was so skeptical. Currently on hold with newegg right now, will be trying my onboard graphics afterwards for sure.

Currently on the IGPU for my 6700k.

Well crap, my computer will go to sleep and shut down and boot up with no issues. No LEDs glowing or anything. I guess my card could be bad too? I was already about to RMA that as well for coil whine.

I'm not sure if this was already present with my GPU in or not, but just moving my mouse around on screen causes my PSU to whine like CRAZY. I never remember it doing that outside of high load situations, but maybe for the IGPU moving the mouse around on the desktop is a high load situation?

This is extremely worrying as now it seems the problem might point towards my motherboard, which is the one part I'd prefer to not replace as it involves a complete disassemble.

I've got the new power supply heading my way and I'm about to go ship out the GPU for RMA. Anyone got any ideas I should try? Is there anything I could do to pinpoint whether its the motherboard or not?

Really starting to suspect my mobo. I'm getting graphical glitches like this when resizing a game window even when using my IGPU:

Could that still be an issue related to my power supply?

Learned this is probably just because of outdated drivers, I've never used the IGPU before until now so I'm not really going to worry about it.

No definitely not, Newegg is already sending me the replacement PSU so I'll be able to see soon enough.
