random connection failures when NAS is connected

When I connect a Synology DS115j, all computers connected by cable to the router randomly lose the connection every 5 or 6 minutes and after a few seconds reconnect. The weird thing is that all devices connected by wifi are fine.
If I disconnect the NAS all devices work correctly.
The router is a Cisco EPC3825. I don't know what I can do :(
Any idea?

Thanks.

And the router subnet mask is also 255.255.255.0 - correct? (Compelled to ask as the little things tend to get me....)

If only wired connections are disconnecting while wireless remain connected then that, to me, rules out a power problem with the router.

Any sense the the NAS is getting overly hot....? Good airflow all around and internally?

Check the physical power and ethernet connections to the NAS. Check connectors, plugs, change cables, power outlet, etc.. Just one thing at a time and give each "test" a few minutes.

Also, look at any administrative logs that are available on the router and on the NAS. See if you can find some event or error code corresponding with the disconnects.

You might also watch the event...

Might be an IP address conflict. Is the NAS a static IP?

Check the IP addresses and subnet masks on all of the affected devices. Do the addresses and maskings fit and match the IP addressing practices for your IT environment?

Everything should have a DHCP assigned address except for devices such as printers and NAS devices which should be static.

The router needs to have a range of available DHCP IP addresses ready for assignment. The static IP addresses should be outside of that range.

Also make sure that the router does not have some limit set on the number of allowed devices.

The NAS has a static IP, but its outside DHCP assignable IP:

IP NAS: 192.168.1.5 MASK: 255.255.255.0 (STATIC)
ROUTER IP : 192.168.1.1
DCHP sarting IP: 192.168.1.10
Maximum Number of Devices: 119
My PC IP(now the only device connected by cable): 192.168.1.14 (DHCP)

You might also watch the event viewer on your PC - especially the network tab. Even though your PC will be disconnected it may see some event or action that causes that disconnection.

Double check that the NAS firmware is up-to-date and most current. Or maybe there has been some update that is buggy....

Be methodical and keep some notes. Please post accordingly. Thanks.
