I have an nvidia shield running Android 6.0, and I'm trying to connect to my school's wifi. But the wifi is crazy. It's an active directory thing running Server 2008. And we have usernames and passwords. I've tried a laptop using Ubuntu, Windows 7 and this tablet, and I have never been able to connect. Lots of other people have windows 8 or 10 tablets/laptops and connect just fine (sometimes, our school's wifi is just really shitty in general).

I have downloaded ES file explorer, put what I think is the server's IP into the server IP text box, and entered my username and password, but still nothing. I've actually tried two IPs, I don't know what the possible repercussions might be for putting them on here, but they were 10.0.0.3 and 10.0.0.5. I've also tried 10.0.2.5. She said the ones with 3 and 5 were like the server's actual ip and one was the password ip. I don't know if that's really a thing or not, but oh well.

I have done all the standard stuff like turning my tablet off and on, resetting the wifi, forgetting the network. I can't really restart the router or server or whatever the hell she has because, you know, I'd be shutting it down for the whole school.

Is there some underlying trick or bug in Server 2008 that prevents anything not windows 8 from joining? I mean, even with windows 7, I should be able to join because that's what server 2008 was originally for. I've already asked the network admin but she's all but useless and basically tells me I'm shit out of luck every time I ask her for help.

If anyone has had this problem before, or if you think you might be able to help, pls answe.

The admin said the school is using a WPA2 Enterprise security thing. Many places online say that android can't do wpa2 enterprise, but a workaround is to use the 802.11x and set the other things to PEAP and MSCHAPv2, then enter your login info. I did this, but it still doesn't work.
