Hello,

I am building a custom computer and I am having a fatal issue with one of the components (not sure which).

The problem is that when I plug in the computer, it leads me to a black screen. In the bottom right corner there are numbers flipping in between A9 and 99. The computer stays in this state until I turn it off or restart it. When I turn on the computer holding down the "Delete" button (the key that should lead me to the BIOS menu), is just says "Entering setup..." and stays like that until I shut it off.

I have tried unplugging and re plugging the graphics card, RAM and hard drive. I have also tried to turn on the computer without the graphics card, hard drive and with both of the sticks of RAM individually. Without the graphics card, I got 1 long beep an two short beeps. With the first stick of RAM alone, I got 3 beeps over and over again. With the second stick of ram alone, it worked normally. Without the hard drive, it worked normally again. I have also tried to take out the CMOS, wait 2 minutes and put it back in, but this gave me the same results. I've read and watched at least 7 tutorials and fixes, but none have worked.

It seems like I have tried everything except call a professional. The issue could be because of the static on my hands, but I made sure to touch metal every time I opened the case (I don't have one of those anti-static gloves). The other potential issue could be that one of the parts is damaged and I can't see the damage. If that's true, it's probably the graphics card.

Here is a list of my specs:

Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming
RAM: HyperX Fury 2 times 4GB DDR3 DIMM
CPU: AMD FX 6-Core 3.5GHz, 14.0 MB Total Cache
Graphics card: nivada GeForce GT 730
Power supply: Corsair CX600 ATX power supply 600W
Case: Enermax Ostrog ECA3280 series
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue hard drive
Operating System: currently none.

If you need any more detail, I can tell you.

Thanks in advance,
Nate

Edit:
There is a decent chance that this has something to do with the processor not being supported by the motherboard, but I am still not sure.

I can't comment with any certainty, but I had a similar sounding issue for a while with my MSI X99A Motherboard. Turned out the issue was with my RAM installation. The slots on the board are notably stiffer than anything I'd dealt with previously. Had to really work the RAM modules in to get them to fully lock into place.

Not sure what the case is with the 970, but on the X99A, the RAM slots only have a clip on one side, and you can actually get that clip to lock into place without the other side of the memory stick locking in. I'd suggest removing any CPU cooling unit you have installed right now, and making sure your memory is clipped in all the way (and equally) on both sides, and isn't sticking out slightly further on one end than the other, despite being clipped in.

Cheers, and hope, but some chance, that this helps!

I couldn't seem to get this to work. After I looked into it a bit more, I found out that the RAM sticks were in the wrong DIMM slots. After trying them in the right spot, I got the same result. I have also followed most of this thread and still have the issue: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems
