Spilt water onto mother board help

I spilt a little water onto my new asus motherboard
(I know I'm an idiot)
There was no other parts in the computer except for the motherboard and it's never been powered on (mostly because I don't have the proper power supply atm)
Is there any way I'm not totally screwed?

If it is just water , and you make sure it is absolutely dry before using it , there is a good chance it will be Ok

You are probably going to be ok. If you could figure out a way to completely submerge in uncooked rice for a day or so, that would be best.

May not need to go that far. I would suggest trying to stand it up and put a desk fan or something a couple of feet from it and turn it onto it to let it dry.

Leave it at least a couple of days or so. And do not install it or power it on until you are 100% sure that it's dry.

A hair dryer for 10 min per side would be a quick fix. The thing is to make sure it is completely dry before adding power.

Exactly. I like the fan idea, but that's just me. My work once had some flooding where water came from the ceiling and for on a couple of servers. They are still running.

I've had a similar situation. I was using a case that had a 200mm fan on top (it had a grate covering, so it was open to any form of liquid)..

Had a monster drink on the right side of my table, right next to the PC.
Spilled it.
What I did?
Well, simple..


>shutdown the PC immediately
>RIP OPEN THE CASE
>dry up what you can
>try doing all of this in less then a minute
>leave it alone for 7-8 hours
>if it still doesn't work, you're screwed.

We were lucky since it was rack mounted, and the rack had a top, so not as much as could have been in there. But you could see marks where water had set on it.
