I recently built this pc and everything has gone fine until today.
I'm running windows 7 home 64 bit.
So tonight when I turned on my computer it booted to the system repair screen. I thought my os might have corrupted, so i let it try to revert my computer to an earlier state, but it was unable to do so. I then turned off and turned on my computer and it booted and now seems to be working fine. IS it ok? Should I be worried? One explanation I can think of this is today I turned on my computer just to show the leds to a friend and then instantly hit the power button again to turn it off before it booted. Could this be causeing the issue? Thanks in advance.

Yes, shutting a computer off while its booting can lead to corruption of mother boot record sector of hard drive. Windows 7 is far better at self recovery than xp. To check if your windows installation integrity is fine try using command prompt to repair.

To get to command prompt, press "start" button, now click on "all programs", navigate to "accessories" folder and click on it. You will see command prompt offered in the list, run it in administrator mode.

In command prompt type "chkdsk", note type it without quotation symbols.

It will do 3 stage check and notify if any or no problems found, if problems are found it will offer to repair on restart.

OR alternatively you can type "sfc /scannow" to check and do a system repair if needed.
