Hi all. I just installed 8 gigs of kingston hyperx ram (2x4). my pc wont boot 98% of the time. when it does boot, iit freezes about a minute or two later. all the fans work and everything, just no post boot. the dram light comes on. sometimes it stays lit, or it flashes and then the cpu led flashes. Im not sure what else to do. ive tried everything except doing stuff in bios. I do not have another set of ram or motherboard to test.

AMD fx-8350
Asus Sabertooth 990fx r.20
GTX 960
650watt Thermaltake PSU

Solution
What is the actual model # of the DRAM - contrary to the above - YES most Hyper X have XMP profiles, the ones (1600 and above, as XMP only applies to DDR3 that is 1600 and above ;) ) that don't are the Fury line.

Im not really sure how to do all that. ive never had issues with ram so ive never dealt with that type of stuff.

Tried that. No luck. It told me that the overclocking had failed.

That usually means too tight timings or not enough voltage (or too much).

Is it DDR3 1866 Mhz RAM? What timings? What voltage?

I have 4 sticks rated for 1600 MHz but I run them at 1866, no problems.

1.55v Ram, 1.35v NB, looser timings. I can't remember exactly but stock is 9-9-9-24 @1600MHz and I think I run 10-11-11-30 @1866. It's different for every config.
