how PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard are identifiable without knowing their color

I want to know whether it's the set of commands only that can identify the ps/2 ports for mouse and keyboards or one can have more ways to identify

Keyboard port is usally nearest to edge of PC case.

In any case, they are not interchangeable so you'll soon know if keyboard is plugged in to correct port, and same with mouse, they won't work if plugged in to the wrong PS/2 port.
