I have been thinking this over for a while. i want either the
Corsair Gaming K70 RGB MX BROWN Mechanic
or the razer chroma....
i know this question has been asked and answered many many times.. but i really am not sure.. i bought the razer and returned it because i heard everywhere that the k70 was much better build quility with better switches with cherry mx. but at the same time the ligthing on the chroma is better. but i wont be buying myself a keyboard just for ligthing.. i do like the clicky keys on chroma. will i be disapointed with the mx brown switches.. i will use it ofc for gaming and such. will i miss the clicky sound. or is it just as satisfying to type on the browns. ? pls some detailed answer with experience. its not a cheap keyboard. and do the razer kaihl switches actually improve gaming in any way over the cherry mx. ?

Solution
I didn't get a good run out of my razor mice or KB's, but the mechanical Corsair K95 keyboards are quite good.

I have one hardcore 16 YO who has managed to NOT KILL the current Corsair KB in 8 mths of harrowing gaming ... in the last two years before that he went through 1 Razor and 1 Logitech.

With 3 gamers in the house the topic of good KB's and Mice is hotly debated.

The Razor Black Widow? his mate has is also going after 8mths.

I have a Logitech here ... it isn't a good gaming KB but it suits my typing style well.

I use Logitech MX Darkfield mice ... I like em.

cherry brown keys are the best i've found out of the lot. enough feedback but still easily pressed. my WPM typing went up substantially after switching to mechanical cherry.
most "tactile" keys, like the razer, are cheap ripoffs of the cherry mx design.

my CM Storm Quickfire TK(with Cherry MX Brown switches) is the best keyboard i've tried out of ~25.

cosair keyboards are known for best performing keyboards but they are very load i think you should go with a more quitter keyboard like the razer deathstalker chroma and plus it is a bit cheaper than the corsair. i personally went with the razer chroma it is great, low sound, great quality, like the different colors too.

The corsair is much higher quality. The razor doesn't even use real MX Cherry switches, instead opting to cut costs by using Chinese switches.

The clicky-ness you like can be found on any keyboard with cherry MX Blue. The corsair k70 does have a blue version but they stopped making it some time ago and near impossible to get.

You could get the Logitech g710
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-High-Speed-920-006519/dp/B00QI2WPJ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452747660&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g710

The same clickly keys that you like plus these are real Cherry MX keys. Logitech is higher quality than razor too.

"do the razer kaihl switches actually improve gaming in any way over the cherry mx. ?"

No, they are much worse than Cherry MX. They don't last as long, hence made in china.

i think it really just depends on if you like the noise the keyboard gives you or you prefer a more silent keyboard that is customizable. i personally love the razer keyboard

1st, the guy said he wanted a clicky keyboard.

2nd, you do not pick a keyboard based on it's loudness level. You can install dampeners on any keyboard to take away a good chuck of the sound.

3rd, the razor products are not of high quality and compared to other mechanical keyboards are probably the lowest quality. Not only do they have a short warranty but they cut corners everywhere. Thin plastic and crap chinese switches.

Well , i will just present my opinion for your very last question - do razer kaihl switches actually improve gaming over cherry mx.
In reality mechanical keyboards do not improve gaming. not even cherry mx . They were never developed for gaming , Gaming equipment brands just promoted them for gaming . Sure you get the noise and feedback , which i personally hate , but while gaming you hardly press any keys frequently , you just press and hold most of the time .

So in neither way it will improve your gaming. The mouse will surely do but the keyboard makes barely a difference . So buy an RGB one if it looks fancy to you , but keep in mind , it will hardly affect your performance in gaming.

Razer keys do not have an excellent build quality but none of the razor products ever actually do. I have used razer DA 2013 and DA chroma , very excellent mouse but yes build quality could have been better.
But I wont recommend to go for corsair cherry mx blindly without using it . there are four variants and one can like only one or two of them based on their personal preference.

Now why Razer opted for kaihl switches , you may ask , cost cutting is the most common answer , but there is one more reason , they made a switch out of scratch for gaming , ( actuation force same as cherry MX blue but actuation point slightly up , which makes double tapping much easier. Downside is , its not good for typing.
So they basically make the cherry mx blue better for gaming , compromising a little on quality and give you BW chroma.

I would like to conclude by saying that dont listen to just 2 or 3 peoples biased opinions , check out ther reviews here especially critical reviews. and you will know what to buy.
Corsair k70
Razer BW
both have their own share of problems , but personally i think software issues are more annoying than hardware ones.

no. the response you get from cherry mx mechanical switches is not as prevalent in those types of tactile keys like the razers.
pressing a higher quality mechanical switch takes less effort than chiclet, flat plain, or any other types of keys out there. and the fact that it has a farther area to cover until it hits the backplate makes them more comfortable.
switching to cherry mx did give me a slightly faster response time in games and faster word per minute typing.

Check out the spec sheets for switches , kaihl has 50cN AF and MX blue also has 50cN AF. are you saying your personal opinion of force needed to press, is more accurate measure than a manufacturers spec sheet. MX brown has a 45cN AF.
that would be softer than a blue or kaihl , that i can agree upon.

"pressing a higher quality mechanical switch takes less effort than chiclet, flat plain, or any other types of keys out there."
This statement is plain stupid , have you tried the Mx black or grey . its like you need to install jackhammer's instead of fingers.
slightly faster response is funny , so how many competitions have you won till now , with your slightly faster response time. you do know you are talking about response time difference between different mechanical keys to be less than nano seconds.
Stop trying to compare a rubber dome with mechanical and thwart the results on Razer.

that's funny you're quoting crap from the internet with no actual experience in the matter.
yes, i am stating this is in fact my opinion because i've tried about 25 different keyboards over the passed 5-6 years and i can easily tell the difference with 3 of them right in front of me. and timing my WPM the speed increased by ~18 WPM going from chiclet to mechanical cherry. and having used the razer "tactile" keys in the past i can also state from personal experience that are cheaper and do not respond as well/as fast.

just because you're fingers are too weak to use a good mechanical switch effectively doesn't mean everyone out there wants some cheapo keys.
even if that isn't the case you can use whatever versions you wish and can give your opinion to others the same way some others on this thread have. but it is still only your opinion, though yours appears to be based on some manufacturer produced "fact" sheets and not personal experience.

I also bold underlined my opinion in my post . Happy now :D

Giving your biased opinion and then telling someone to not listen to biased opinions? Or are you not biased?

Mechanical switches in general are better for gaming, that cannot be debated. They have multiple variants and all of the actuate at an earlier point than rubber membrane switches. Kahli switches are rated at less key presses and the switch mechanism is made out of cheaper plastic, thus wearing down quicker, thus they are worse for gaming or anything for that matter. Quality control in non-existent on these switches as well and they will sometimes just fail nowhere near what they are rated.

That said, I'm not going to jump into the whole actuation force argument. Everyone finds they like something different and really has nothing to do with the quality of a switch.

???????
Razer kaihl switches are actually rated more key strokes ie 60 million compared to mx, but quality control is lenient , but warranty services are good at least in my area.
your logic deduction is like this. >>> I read crap >>> i think crap >>> i write crap. :D

Gentlemen....personal attacks are a no-no. Present facts, and be prepared to back it up with actual facts.

Human Interface Devices (HID), is very hard to recommend, because your fingers/eyes/hands are different from everyone elses'.

Bottom line - Keep it civil and constructive. I don't want to have to ban anyone over a trivial thing like what keyboard to buy.

Ya , they just make it average build quality , so that people have to upgrade quickly. But their Chroma and Synapse software is pretty good, and keeps pulling in people :).
I wish Logitech would get rid of its eerie blue color which cant match with any lights or theme.
