Asus Maximus Extreme 8 (Q-Code 6F)?

I recently built a new computer, using the motherboard above listed. Everything boots fine and has been running fine from the beginning. However the Qcode display on the motherboard lists 6F. I have updated the bios to the current. As I said I haven't had any issues with the machine registering anything correctly or crashing. All ram, etc is accounted for properly.

According to the manual Qcode 6F means "System Agent DXE initialization (System Agent module specific).

Any ideas or does the Qcode display always show something, and its generic.

Btw, I had the ram on auto for the first week in the bios. The 6F codes was there. Recently changed it to XMP with no issues, and same Qcode exists.

Thanks for your help.

Could be incompatible ram, either speed or voltage... go to https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ and select your motherboard, ram, and cpu....see if it tells you anything is incompatible.. or even a bad stick of ram...

I double checked it manually before purchasing and it is supported. However just to verify I did the test using the site you recommended. It passed with flying colors.

I'm having the exact same issue as you. I've tested the same exact setup on 3 different motherboards (of the same model, Asus Maximus VIII Extreme EATX). I get the same error code with and without overclocking. Everything seems to be working fine, but as soon as you get to the part where you boot into windows, the code changes to 6F. It's really frustrating since it's a brand new computer and it gives me the error code. I would assume it has something to do with the type of memory we have (Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB), since i've already tried 3 different mother boards (of the same model). I tried contacting ASUS support, but their support is not helping at all.

Hi - just saw this you may have it fixed by now, if so let me know what worked. I have had the same problem intermittently. First, I have the same mobo. I have Gskill Trident z pc 3400 fitted and tried it at native 2133 and via XMP but it made no difference. I also disabled c states in power management and at optimised defaults - no joy.

My pc freezes randomly. The screen locks, keyboard and mouse don't work and I have to do a hard reset which may take numerous times until it will restart. There is a split second noise of static or a click through my bluetooth headphones just before it freezes.

The system is
Asus Maximus extreme viii
I7 6700k
16gb Gskill Trident z DDR4 FC3400 and the timings are 16 18 18 38 and is running via XMP in the bios.
MSI 1080ti
EVGA 850w supernova psi
Corsair H100i
3 SSD - C = Samsung 256gb 840 + 128 + 1Tb + 128
1 500gb wd spinner
W10 64 creator

I have reseated the ram, ran memory check, reset virtual memory, ran prime and furmark for GPU, ran disk chk, updated drivers and tried a 980ti, ran scandisk, ran file checker and updated all drivers. I have also disabled C state. I have also viewed event log - suggested PCH fault 04 and 55 re memory problem. I have also altered the PCIE power settings to prevent running in economy mode.

Nothing has worked yet - still random freezes that occur usually when gaming.

What worked for a while was the power management fix for Windows 10 on YouTube. Right click start button, power management change management plan, advanced settings, pcie, latency, turn off ( or menus sufficiently close to this, you'll see it). I have also tested the power supply, no detectable issues.

Let me know how you got along as I am still stuck and a new mobo, CPU or both are now being considered.

Regards

Cee
