Hi

I have two questions:

1. I can't adjust my brightness. When I go into the charms and click on settings the brightness option is greyed out and says 'Unavailable' underneath it. I updated my graphics drivers but to no avail. I can't even adjust the brightness on my monitor! I think the problem is because I am using a DVI to HDMI adapter on my monitor.

2. In the Control Panel, it says there is 4gb of total graphics memory but 2gb of dedicated video memory. Where is this extra 2gb of memory from? Any ideas?

My build:
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600k
RAM: 8GB DDR4
MOBO: ASUS Z170-M PLUS
GPU: EVGA GTX 950 FTW

For brightness, you need to adjust your monitor, not from within windows.
In control panel, the 4GB you mentioned is total availible graphics memory, your memory is the one called "dedicated"

As I said, I can't adjust the brightness on the monitor, and there are brightness controls in Windows, just that they are, for some reason, unavailable

I know that my total graphics memory is 4gb, and I know that the 'dedicated' memory is 2gb from my graphics card, but I don't know where the extra 2gb is coming from

That is "shared" memory, it's total available form other sources, everyone has them.
