Hi.

Ive read through pretty much every hard drive related issue on this site and none match the problem I have. It's like my pc has a new undiscovered disease or something.

I have two internal hard drives running well at the moment. When I try to add a third hard drive, it shows in my BIOS, but it does not show in Device Manager, not in the explorer and yes, I've looked in disk management but I cannot allocate it when it's not even listed in the disk management.
I've tried a different hard drive, I've tried a different cable, I've tried a different SATA slot on my motherboard.

My secs are:
Intel Pentium G3258 @ 4.7ghz
Corsair Vengeance 4gb (2x2gb) 1600 mhz RAM
Asrock H97M Anniversary
AMD R9 290
Seasonic M12II 620W PSU

What am I missing?

Hi there OMGChase,

So the drive is recognized only in BIOS but nowhere else right? Is the drive recognized as having its full capacity in BIOS?(or it shows as 0 MB)
One thing you can try is to boot up Ubuntu from a CD or a flash drive -> partition and format the drive -> boot Windows -> see if the drive is recognized.
In case the drive is not picked up by Ubuntu, I would suggest you to attach it to another system and see if the issue persists.

Let me know how this goes,

Solved it. For anyone with the same issue: seems all I needed to do was RESTART my pc. Don't just turn it off then on. you need to actually restart for some reason.

Hi there D_Know_WD.

I solved it. My pc just needed to restart and poof, there it is. It's weird because I turned off my pc countless times on back on again but it seems like you need to go to Start, shutdown and select Restart and it works.
