Hello,

I'm planning to do a pc build but I am a bit confused because the budget is pretty tight at 500AUD.

It will be used for gaming, I want it to run the recent titles such as fallout 4, gta v, witcher 3at least as smooth as at a console. And also it will be used for Internet, music, movies and all the common stuff.

I already have a case and a hdd. I want you to help me choosing CPU - Motherboard - RAM - GPU - PSU. I was thinking of a intel g3258 which can run pretty smooth recent games and it's priced low enough and also maybe I can do a future upgrade to an i5 afterwards or it doesn't worth it? Maybe it is better to go for an AMD and invest on a better gpu?

For playing those games, 500 is near impossible this is the closest i'd get with something that actually runs.

What DAS said is kinda right, to some extent. USD prices yes but in AUS prices everything is different and the i3 is still a great CPU

At the price point for as small as possible I tried to fit a 380 but also impossible.

Intel i3
The G3258 "WAS" a good chip. Newer games like fallout , gta v and far cry 4 Will stutrer making it unplayable . The Intel i3 seems to be the best option here and offer dual cores as same as the g3258 but has hyper threading making it have two strong cores and two weak cores . Its ideal for this build here . Pick up a gigabyte board around $50 or less and your set .
Graphics card
The gtx 960 isn't bad , but the r9 380 smashes right now . I'd say its just below the r9 290 . It's future ready and it's a good deal .

Btw the i3 has 2 physical and 2 logical, making it dual core with the ability to use hyperthreading for 4 threads...making it a quasi quadcore...

However at the same price you can get an AMD chip that smashes it to pieces performance wise. Let me have a shot at a build

EDIT: Yeah tough market...will be hard to stick to your budget.

It's an APU, All I could fit in without going overbudget by a large amount.

I agree. however the AMD offerings in the i3's budget range are pound for pound superior for gaming specifically.

@KWA-E The AMD APU won't play Fallout 4 or GTA V...that's just missleading.

Not too bad in all honesty, I doubt AAA games will run well on it, lower settings 720p but for the budget I'd recommend.

How low could you go on all the other components to drop in a 750Ti? I just don't have enough experience at that end of the table to say Fallout q4 or GTA will be playable on 30fps for example...

I think KWA-E's great base platform still needs a GPU

You also have to think of future upgradability, with the AMD line you have FX 6300 with only the FX 8**** CPU's which are litterally the same cpu with a different base clock speed.

Intel allows you to upgrade to alot within 1 architecht type.

750Ti is ok will play them above 30fps mid settings 720P I think. Under 30 fps is where I find it hard to play.
