Need adapter for my USB Header....

I am updating an old HP A6650f PC, I bought a gigabyte wireless/bluetooth adapter......

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Bluetooth-Expansion-Components-GC-WB867D-I/dp/B00HF8K0O6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

It uses a 9 pin connector to connect to a 9 pin usb connector on the motherboard. I thought I had one, but it turns out the free connector I have is labeled usb 4.0, but consists of 2x4 pin connectors. Not a single 9 pin connector.

Here is the motherboard layout...
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01357135

The front usb panel is plugged in to my USB1 post, and can't live without this. Any ideas if there are any adapters out there that can fix this?

PS: The adapter card does have a standard female connector on the back. I think that is to replace the one you use on the motherboard, but not sure how I get the mail 9 min to connect to it...

I am a little lost as to why the Bluetooth PCIe card needs to also plug into a USB header.

The USB 4.0 you are talking about is actually one of two labeled F_USB3 and F_USB4. They are single USB headers made for single USB ports.

The only headers usable for your bluetooth adapter are the bottom two F_USB1 and F_USB2.

Again, does the manual say why it needs to plug into a USB header?

^^^ Me too ^^^

Oh, never mind I just looked at your motherboard and it seems that you are not having a problem with USB but a problem with PCI expansion slot. You have a 4x PCIe card and the board has a 16x PCIe slot. You can put a 4x card into a 16x slot even though the card does not fill the hole slot. It could still be a problem for you it you need the slot for the graphics card.

Thanks for all the quick replies, I won't be having any expansion slots available. They will be all used up.

Can I use a splitter to split the 9 pin on the board to the gigabyte bluetooth card and the front panel usb ports?

Whats the difference between the 2x4 pin usb ports on the board and the USB 9 pin one?

Is there no way to use one of the 4 pin usb ports on the motherboard and convert it to a regular usb plug?

I found this, but think its way more than I need, Just wanted a simple adapter cable....

The review that said it caught on fire doesn't give me a lot of confidence either, not sure I need a powered usb port....

There are two free USB headers; USB3 and USB3. But they are 4 pin connectors.

Any idea why all the other USB connectors would be 9 pin, while these would be 4 pin?

I was think of combing the 2x4 pin, and put them into the single 9 pin on the wireless card, but wouldn't know which pins would be left out (the ground)

the 9 pin is front panel, it has things other than just USB on it, the cable that comes with your card is a 4 pin connector to 4 pin, its just for data transfer, blue tooth uses usb 2.0 for data transfer on that card.

Actually the card has s 9 pin connector for the USB header, and a single female usb cable for expansion or connecting to an external sub poort.

My options seem to be....

Get a 5 pin to male USB and try plugging it into the Bluetooth card...

Get two 5 pin cables, plug one into USB3 and one into USB 4, and then combine both cables into this cards 9 pin cable.

Or just grab the USB expansion card and be done with it.....

Rather use the cables, but trying to get this done, and these seem to be hard to find

His board has two 9 pin USB headers and two 4 pin USB headers. The card comes with a 4pin to 9 pin even though it only uses 4 pins.

As to why it needs it if it is using a PCIe slot makes no sense unless the PCIe is just for show.

Can you take a picture of the cable you have, the cable in the picture on amazon and gigabyte website showes a 4 pin connector the plugs into your PCI card and a standard USB header cable that plugs into your motherboard.

I tried, the card has a 9 pin USB header, the same as USB1 and USB2 on the motherboard.

Unfortunately all that I have free is USB3 and USB4, that are both 4 pin cables.

My idea was getting 2x5 pin cables and plug into USB3 and USB4 then plugging the other ends into the card, but one pin would not be used as the motherboard connectors are only 4 pin.

Another option would be to take one 4 pin connection (usb3 or usb4) and plug it into the standard USB port on the card.

Can we please have pictures of the actual card and cable it came with, it appears as if there are 3 different versions of this product. If your version of the card has the standard USB port on it plug that into the 4 pin connection.

I'm not sure how to post pictures, I can't see how t do it on this site.

It came with a male 9pin to male 9pin connector. If I unplugged the cable that went into USB1 header it would work fine, but I would loose the USB ports on the front panel.
