I have a problem with blackscreens while gaming. After 5 minutes of gaming my screen turns black and I can`t do anything but restart.

System Specs:

Haswell i7-4770K at 3.5GHz
Corsair H60 watercooler
16 GB ram 1600 Mhz
GTX 980ti KFA2 HOF factory OC
ASUS Z87 Deluxe Mobo
Corsair AX860 PSU
Corsair 256 GB SSD
Windows 10 Pro

What I have done:

1: Used Display Driver Uninstaller, and tested at least 5 different drivers from Nvidias list of releases since Windows 10. They were all tested with a clean reinstall of Heaven Benchmark. No matter which driver version, I always crash at scene 17-19.

2: Tested Witcher 3 and World of Tanks, both get blackscreens after 5 minutes of gaming.

3: Went into BIOS and tried different settings, switching XMP profile on and off.

4: Installed Speccy to see temperatures while benchmarking. No problems there since my CPU reaches a max of 47 celcius and GPU reaches 80 celcius.

5: I have Malware Bytes and made further scans with HitmanPro 3. No Malware or Viruses hidden.

The card is about 7 months old, and as with other Nvidia users, the various Nvidia drivers have caused troubles since the windows 10 release, but I could always fix those frequent fps-problems with downgrading to a previous driver version and it was solved.

Recently Windows popped up with a message about upgrading the OS to Windows 10 Pro, so I did that.

According to my own preliminary conclusions, it must either be:

A: The OS upgrade fucked up everything and I need to do a reinstall

B: The GPU needs an RMA.

I have arranged with a friend to test my GPU in his rig within the next few days, before submitting the RMA.

So I wonder, what do you guys think I have missed regarding those black screens? I havn`t had those blackscreens before, but is it really possible that a minor upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Pro can destroy the performance so much?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Update 15-01-2016

Decided to do a full OS reinstall. Made the heaven benchmark again with the newest Nvidia driver, and it still ended up with a blackscreen. The same pattern with dropping down to 9 minimum fps and 164 maximum fps and then Blckscreen at the last scenes when it changes to night time in Heaven. Turns out it wasn't a windows problem afterall as I suspected.

Also tried WoT and the same Blackscreen after 5 minutes of gaming happened.

Only test left seems to try friends gaming rig and see what happens there.

Also did a heaven benchmark on low with just the 4400HD and no blackscreen occured, with a succesful completion of the heaven benchmark, even tough the minimun fps was 6,7.

Strange that a high quality GTX980ti card from KFA2 with the Hall of Fame title can bug up like that after 7 months.

Update 17-01-2016

Now the GPU won`t display at all. The screen just goes to sleep. Tested both HDMI and DVI ports. The onboard 4400HD works without problems, and no blackscreens at all.

Went to see two friends of mine and tested my GPU in two different gaming rigs. Both rigs wont display anything on the screen with my GPU. Both go directly to sleep and GPU is running with led-lights on, just no display.

Conclusion must be that my KFA2 GTX980ti HOF OC ed. is simply faulty, and must be returned to RMA.

Of course the upgrade could've screwed it up. It's Windows. EVERYTHING is possible in Windows.

I'd just see that friend of yours, test your gpu and draw your conclusion based on your new observations
