I want to be able to put video from my computer to my 55 inch HD Sceptre tv so I can watch videos and such from my computer on my HD tv instead of my monitor. My HP computer does not seem to have an HDMI plug, but it does have DVI and VGA. I plugged in a DVI to HDMI converter in the back of the computers DVI and plugged the HDMI into it. I did get a picture on my tv at first, but the screen was full of purple lines. I tried changing my display settings on my computer in case that was the problem, but had no luck since I really don't understand completely how this all works. Now i'm not even getting a picture at all and think something might be wrong with the HDMI wire. It's a 100 foot wire (it's really long because my computer is across the room from the tv). I'm not even sure if i'm using the proper way to connect DVI to HDMI on the tv. I'd really appreciate anyone's help, thanks in advance.

I use a scepter hdtv to my computer using a dvi-I [card] to hdmi [ hdmi2 tv] cable ?? works great - I think it may come down to that adaptor or converter ?? [sometimes there not so good overall compared to hard wired as a cable is ??]

[example of cable I use]

the hdtv I'm using right now

also that being 100' is not so good about 3 to 12 foot is all you need 100 foot is way too much
