How to make my computer run games better?

So I'm trying to run high quality games such as Far Cry 4 or Assassins Creed Unity on my Asus, on both games with the lowest settings possible I just barely run 25 fps. I while ago I bought a Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card and it hasn't made a single change to how my computer is running my game. My question is, what do I need to make my computer run better? Obviously the graphics card alone isn't helping very much.

OS: Windows 8.1
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight Core Processor 3.30 GHz
Memory: 16.0 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760

Let's see if you have any CPU bottleneck issues. Run a monitoring pgm in the background while you game. Something like HWinfo will show CPU usage and GPU usage both. After playing some demanding action where the slowness seems to be noticeable, check the CPU vs GPU usages.

I'm not too good with all of this computer stuff, but here's the link to my tower https://www.asus.com/us/Tower-PCs/M51BC/

I'll assume you have the 500W PSU rather than the 300W if it is running the GTX 760 and it came that way.
And it appears you do indeed have the FX-8300 CPU. I forgot AMD sold that to PC suppliers. The ones I mentioned above are the more common retail CPUs.

That combination should be pretty good for gaming at 1080p or less. If you are not satisfied with your frame rates while gaming, you could move up to the GTX 970 for a nice improvement over the GTX 760: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1355?vs=1038

You may also want to do some "housekeeping". Disable as much unneeded junk that starts up with Windows as possible. Do you still have all the bloatware installed that came with the PC? Everything running in the background steals clock cycles and wastes Windows resources.
Also run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry portions both to clean up registry errors, software conflicts and resource-wasting junk. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

I've tried to use some clean up options, but nothing really helps. I thought about upgrading to a different graphics card but I was a little bit worried about it. Because after I bought the 760 there wasn't a single change to how many computer was running before I got it, so I'm a little worried that buying something better may not affect it.
