I recently got an M.2 SSD for my laptop, and I got sent one of the small ones by mistake. I can't use the screw that's with the laptop because there's no hole where this one ends on my laptop's motherboard. Is it ok for me to use electrical tape to hold it down to the motherboard and not damage anything?

yes, it is fine. electrical tape is non-conductive, and will not interfere with the circuitry.

You could, but I personally wouldn't. If the card is too small for the port, it's probably not a good idea to use it.
