I recently bought an Intel 240GB SSD and would like to migrate my Windows partition from the HDD to the SSD. But I'm not sure how to proceed.

My PC currently has one WD 1TB Hard drive. 100GB is used as a separate partition for Windows and other programs (C drive). The rest of my games and other files are in another partition that is taking up the rest of the HDD's total capacity (D drive).

What I want is to only clone my C partition (the Windows partition) to the 240GB SSD. How do I make this work and what software should I use.

Hey there, NinjaKolla!

Since you have WD HDD, I can also recommend you using the Acronis True Image WD Edition cloning utility. This software allows you to do both - automatic & manual cloning, where the latter allows you to select whatever files/directories you wish to clone and unselect the ones you don't.
Here is a link to the WD Software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Je2JQU

You should also keep in mind that it's highly recommended to do a clean install of the OS onto the SSD because that would prevent you from transferring redundant files that might affect the performance. If you have the Windows 7 Installation media, I'd suggest you give it a try. Keep in mind, though, that clean installing would require you to have the WD HDD unplugged until it's completed, otherwise you might encounter an OS confusion.

Backup any important data from the hard drive onto an external or some other storage device before proceeding with either one of the procedures. Better safe than sorry, right?

Good luck & keep us posted! :)
