I just upgraded my system from a GTX660 to a R9 390 and am getting worse performance than I did with the 660. In ARK i get around 30 FPS at medium settings. Smite I am averaging around 45 FPS. I have a fresh legit install of win 7 SP1. I feel like it should be running better than this. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great. Im thinking of getting a GTX 970 and seeing if the performance gets any better.

Specs:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
CPU: Fx-8350
GPU: Saphire R9 390 Nitro
Ram: 8gb
PSU: Corsair 750 watt

Hi, relyks0

Before you put the new R9 390 card in.
Did you remove the Nvidia driver for the GTX 660 card you were using.

Download this software, install and run it to completely remove any Nvidia, and Ati drivers from the system and the windows registry.
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Restart your system once done.
Hop over to www.Amd.com and get the latest crimson driver
Download and install it again.

And see how your R9 390 card works then in respect to frame rate output.

Let me know if it improved the frame rate output.
Shaun o. It should sort it out.

I tried a GTX 970 and it has about the same performance. I have came to the conclusion that my CPU is bottle-necking me. Guess it's time for a new CPU/MOBO.
