Hello,
I recently bought a new case and transferd all my hardware to this new case. When everything was in place I tried turning it on, only the fans spun up but nothing else happened. A red led light on my motherboard is light up and sais CPU next to it. Is this an indicator of the cpu not working or is there someting wrong with my motherboard?
(Already checked the cpu socket on bend pins but couldn't find a single one.)
Thanks for your help!

Solution
I've not been much help. I think it most likely IS the motherboard, but only by replacing the motherboard, or testing the CPU elsewhere are the only ways to find out.

I'm assuming that you are not nearby in Florida, where I might be able to help :)

Cpu: intel i5-6600
Gpu: geforce gtx 750 ti
Mobo: msi b150m pro-dh
2X 4gb ddr4 ram
Psu: corsair VS450

I already made sure everything was plugged in right. Now I set it up with only the minimal (mobo, cpu, 1 ram in slot 1, psu)

Thanks for the information. It was a good idea for you to have stripped the system down to make things easier to de-bug. Well done.

Are you sure you have the video cable connected to the correct port at each end and that your monitor is expecting the input it is receiving?

We build computers at school, and I'm just going through a standard list of questions I ask my students, based on what you have told me.

The red LED, when on, shows overvoltage. That would suggest a PSU problem.

Checked my motherboard manual and it sais that the red led means that my cpu cannot be detected or has a malfunction. But I really don't know how my cpu could be damaged: never overclocked it, did not touch it untill the problem occured.

Checked my psu on another pc and it worked just fine.

Also the video cable is connected correctly. My mobo has dvi and hdmi port, tried both ports (maybe a malfunction on one of them) but no image on my monitor.

That's the issue, I don't have another motherboard that supports my cpu. Was just hoping that the problem really is the motherboard.
But thank you for your help! Really apreciated!
