Two dual channel kits, how to ensure they work?

I have learnt that quad channel kits are verified to work together while using two dual channel kits for a quad channel platform might cause errors.
But what if I manually set all four of them, running at the same frequency and timings, which works fine with each one of them on its own? Can I be sure they work as quad channel?
I am using two trident z now for my z170 and I am going for X99, I really want to save some money and not waste my ram.
Thanks.

most having error do have 4 perfect ram sticks individually, they just dont work for quad channel, i wonder if thats because auto setting or xmp make them different.

Older dual-channel kits and newer dual-channel kits (even if the same exact brand and model number) will likely have very different timing settings. You will have to manually set the timings to the highest values. And you may need to increase the RAM voltage a tiny bit.

it seems it is possible to manually set them to work in your article. so my question remains. how exactly?

havent bought yet cause i am not so sure about it, but the trident z is rather new model so the new kit i buy should be almost the same

You already own one kit and you want to buy another one? If it's quite new, then they may be the same, but you can't be sure until you get it. My understanding is that your question is purely hypothetical since you haven't yet tried them. I'm using 2 kits in a system, but I bought them at the same time to make sure they are identical (serial numbers very close).

so your quad channel works simply with xmp?
