Hi! I’ve finally committed to building my own gaming rig, but really have no idea what I’m doing. I’d really appreciate it if people would be willing to make some suggestions on the proposed build/point me in the right direction.

Approximate Purchase Date: Like two months from the original post

Budget Range: £650 before rebates, not including monitor and keyboard.

System Usage (from most to least important): Low to Mid Gaming, Heavy Multimedia, MS Office.

Parts Not Required:
Mouse, OS.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
amazon.co.uk

Country: U.K

Parts Preferences:
Intel CPU

Overclocking:
Future overclocking as I learn more.

SLI or Crossfire: Not in initial build, but as a possible future upgrade.

Monitor Resolution:
1920x1080

Additional Comments:
I am building on a tight budget but aiming for it to be future proof, so some of the parts I will probably end up changing when I get more money, especially with the one I am thinking of getting. Case with good cable management, clean installation, and cooling is important, as are good looks, but nothing that resembles a space ship or rave light show.

Solution
For what you're looking for it should do a pretty good job. Only point of concern is the power supply. I'd switch it out for something off this PSU Tier List

List

My personal suggestion would be something like this. Not as high of a ceiling for future plans, but a very solid PSU

EVGA 650 G2

Looking more into it I've realised I may not need as much power so I was thinking maybe something more around the 450-550W range? Also I've been suggested by my housemates that spending this now and then changing it in the future is impractical but I personally think intel over amd anyday?

If you're looking for performance I'd definitely agree Intel is currently the way to go. The weird thing right now is that the EVGA G2 650 is actually less money than the 550, so it makes no sense not to buy
