Want to upgrade to a better GPU. Possibly MSI R9 390?

Hello all.
Just a lurker, new to the community and I need help with approaching getting a new GPU. Here are my specs,

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P
CPU: FX-6300
RAM: 16GB (G-Skill)
GPU: GTX 560 TI
PSU: 650W 80+ Bronze

I mostly play Fallout 4 and GTA V. I like the idea of the MSI R9 390 8GB, but I don't know if my build can handle it. Very new, very first build I've ever had, came from console gaming. Any suggestions if the 390 is not possible? Don't really want to upgrade my Mobo, just put it in a couple weeks ago.

Thank you very much.

It would have probably gotten more traction in the GPU forum. I will try to help you out anyways though. First, what PSU model do you have? There are lots of 650W Bronze PSUs and some of them like the CX650 aren't very good.

The reason I ask is because the R9 390 is a very power hungry GPU. 650W should be enough if you have a good PSU but if it is a low end model you might be better off with a GTX 970 since it uses significantly less power.

Next, your FX 6300 will probably bottlneck either the 390 or the 970 in some games. This doesn't do any damage to your system. It simply means that some games will max out your CPU and give you a lower framerate even though your GPU still has plenty of power to spare.

Fallout 4 is one game that is known to be CPU intensive. Your FX 6300 might hurt performance in cities in that game. The 390 or or 970 should still be a massive improvement over a 560Ti even in games like Fallout that might have some CPU bottlenecking though.

I have a Rosewill power supply. I was kind of afraid of something like that. This is my very first build, and I have just been upgrading for the past month now.

What are you looking to get out of it? I can get 50-55fps on Fallout 4 on high with the 6300 and an R7 370 4gb. That Mobo is almost top of the line for the 970 chipset and what I should have put in mine. If you haven't you should be able to OC that CPU to over 4 GHZ with that board very easily, as long as you have a good PSU. You'd need to give us the exact model number of the PSU to verify though.

Oh sorry, it is this one http://

I would like to play on better than medium graphics. I do not have a recording on my framerate.
