CD-ROM/DVD is turning itself off, I think...?

I haven't used the CD driver on my PC in a few months. Bought a couple of CDs today and wanted to listen to them, only to find that it doesn't seem to open when I press the button.
I restarted the PC and during the boot up process the green light turns on and if I press the button the cd rom opens, it then closes itself after a couple of seconds... Once Windows has booted up the light will turn off and the cdrom wont open at all when I press the button.

I have tried to restart, then quickly press the button, opening the cdrom and then inserting the cd into it before it closes itself. but when on windows it says theres no CD in the player. I looked at properties and it says it is all working correctly and no update needs to be completed. It seems to me like the CD driver/ROM just turns itself off after like 15 seconds after restarting, I don't have a clue why, I am also not sure why the tray proceeds to close itself if I do manage to get it open,
Any fixes would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more info just ask! Thanks
