USB questions for my motherboard...

I'm building my first PC right now and I'm really confused. I have two USB 2.0 hookups on my motherboard ( and it says that a USB 2.0 thing is sold separately) and my motherboard has no USB 3.0 plug to connect my front panel USB 3.0 cord. This is my motherboard. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H81MA/

Does this mean I have NO active USB's on this motherboard? Can this be possible? Or do the USB ports on the back work regardless of nothing being plugged in.

Other than that I only had trouble with the faceplate for the motherboard. It sits in my case weird and has these sharp "pointy" metal pieces converging off the faceplate.

Thanks guys. :)

Your rear USB3.0/2.0 ports are hard-wired into the M/B. They won't need attention. The front panel USB2.0 cables from the case will go to one of the 2.0 USB headers on the M/B. (pg. 1-16 in your M/B manual)

Your board has no USB3.0 header for the case's 3.0 ports. But you can use an adapter to connect them to the other USB2.0 header on the board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201039
(of course, they will only work at USB2.0 speeds)

Or you can get an USB3.0 add-in card if you really need front USB3.0 ports.
