Need help adding more RAM

Hey guys Currently I have 2 sticks of GSKILL 2GB DDR2 1066 RAM, I was gonna get 4 more gigs of this RAM but its freaking 90 dollars?!? Is there a cheaper brand thats the same and would work with this RAM? Id be up to 8 gigs, though i would like to go higher but i dunno.

DDR2 is going to be more expensive since it's discontinued. You'll have to scour eBay for cheaper finds.

Since DDR2 is basically off the market nowadays, prices are going to get jacked up. Try using Craigslist , Ebay , even local thrift stores may have DDR2 for cheap.

My opinion - For the long run you should just save the money you have currently to buy a decent ddr3 compatible motherboard and a cheap 4/8GB stick of ram. Shouldn't cost you more than $150.

Well i would buy another motherboard but i just got done spending 200 on a psu and video card Lol. Wish freaking motherboard was ddr3 >.<

I mean is that RAM decent for gaming? If i had 4 more gigs of it how much more performance could i get from it?

You'd still be held back by the older CPU.

Well i mean my phenom 2 x4 has done me really good, it still runs games pretty well. I dont really wanna upgrade to another motherboard or cpu atm.

I mean i can run heroes of the storm max now with no lag, and the monster hunter benchmark i ran ranked at 77% which aint that bad at 40 fps.
