ok heres my deliema: back in 2012 i bought a hp pavlion laptop at the best buy in jackson tennessee, for 2 years it performed nicely, then in summer of 2014 i accendeny dropped it on the carpet-covered hardwood floor and it broke the screen. i take it to my local computer repair place in huntingdon tennessee and the IT guy there took to late-winter of 2015 to replace the screen. later when i go to pick it up, he said the motherboard gave out, so he offered to put the HHD drive into a used laptop (my emachines e525 i have now). end of story

heres what i want to know, how do i upgrade my e525s processor (intel celeron 2.18 ghz) with something like a dual core myself without ruining the performance more? it has the 4 gb memory upgrade already installed and im just wanting a faster processor, preferrably a dual core.

if anyone can help me out it is appreated. thanks!

Solution
Not 100% certain, but I believe it is a separate chip. As for the speed, I'd opt for a dual-core 2.0GHz over a single core 2.2GHz processor.

That thing is an ancient machine, with a lot of old technology. I think it would be better off getting a new cheap laptop. The low end laptops today will out perform that E525 by a long shot.
