I have an Alienware x51 R2 with a i5-4460 and upgraded to a i7-4790k. However when I did that it was a little slow on boot up then it stopped on a black screen for a few minutes then went to a green screen like I was able to sign in yet it was just a blank green screen. I then went to BIOS and it recognized the new CPU. I switched back to the old CPU to try flashing the lastest BIOS but now I get the same slow start up and the black/green screen. Anyone know what's wrong and how to fix this?

Did you check if your PC could run it? X51s have a very small form factor and everything in it, including the airflow and the PSU, is calculated very precisely by Dell engineers. You also voided the warranty by replacing a component yourself, unless Dell's warranty policies are different when it comes to their Alienware lineup. The 4790k is a Haswell-Refresh CPU, whereas your 4460 is a regular Haswell and some motherboard need a bios update in order to use them, so the black screen might just be the Bios updating itself to match the CPU.
