Ok everyone please bare with me on this, I suck so bad at understanding networking. I understand like making and fixing pcs.
So I just purchased torguard and I am curious since I was being dossed , does everyone in my house now have to use this?
Or does each machine have its own IP, so like if my IP was being dossed does that mean its just happening to me, or to everyone connecting to the modem?
Also when I had my VPN on it said I was banned and could not post anything and I just made this account?
So I had to turn it off to be able to post.
Ok any type of tips or anything will help me.
I just wanna understand this a bit further thanks guys!

Your router only has one IP and if it is being DOSed, then all users on your internal network will be affected.

Using a VPN to mask your IP to access a game server, for example, would stop other users on that server from seeing your actual IP (the one your router uses). However, using the VPN will degrade your networking/gaming performance to some degree.

Additionally, even using a VPN will not prevent a DOS attacker if they continue attacking your actual IP address (the one your router uses).

Last, many spammers use VPN links to post on sites like Tom's and those IPs get blocked.
