Yes hello, currently my motherboard is the H97M Anniversary I however am looking at buying the H97M PRO4 which i come to found out that my CPU supports "Dual Channel" but there is 4 ram slots? Does this mean i would have to buy 2x8 for 16GB of ram and i cannot just add in another 2x4 8GB of ram?

Ps: the only reason i am looking to upgrade is because i am planning on Crossfire with a R9 380/380x in the future and would like to prepare myself. currently my motherboard doesn't support crossfire or SLI which wasn't a problem at first.

Ps: Will i be able to overclock with this motherboard? I have heard that you can't overclock with the H97M Anniversary but would like to know if you can or can't overclock cpu for the H97M PRO4 i don't know if this would be a deciding factory, it would be nice too have the option when i eventually upgrade to a different cpu that supports the option.

H97 boards don't have the same robust overclocking features as Z97 boards (if any). If you want to overclock you'll need a Z97 board.

As for dual channel, all that means is that the RAM will work better if it has the same sticks in the corresponding RAM slots.

thanks for the fast response. Helped me out. I may go with the Z97 motherboards instead for overclocking potential when i feel the need to upgrade to a K series

would you say the AsRock Z97M PRO4 is a good motherboard compared to other Z97 motherboard's but AsRock or other brands?
