currently im looking to replace my PSU to match my current spec
mother board : Asrock b75m r2.0
vga : asus EN GTS 450 (1 Giga DDR 5)
ram : 4 giga DDR 3 (1 piece)
HD : seagate 1 TB
Cooling : Thermaltake Contact 39

my currently broken PSU is thermaltake with 700 watt, whats bothering me is when i told my buddy when i looking for a replacement he said that i overkill with using 700 watt PSU, he said i only need 500 or 550 watt top. but when i check with the shop the suggest a 750 watt PSU (Magnum PRO 375x, morrologic), i feel a little suspicious with the shop suggestion because of what my friend said, and i use 700 watt pure PSU before so why should i use 750 watt now ??

so how manny watt should i use ? and maybe a suggestion about some PSU brand that i can use for this ?

thank you before, and sorry for bad english (not my first langguange)

Solution
Your friend is correct, 500 watts is plenty. Don't buy a really cheap power supply though - they are cheap because they don't last very long and risk damaging the rest of your PC
