How to stop mouse cord frictioning me to death?

So basically I've got a razer deathadder 2013 chroma, and a razer mousepad,
AT FIRST, I thought my mousepad was dirty due to this hard kind of pull as i moved the mouse and uneven feel, but it turns out it's my bloody braided mouse cord thats rough on the pad!, any way around this?

Although it's not the most visually pleasing thing to do;
- What I do is I get a clear (or regular) piece of scotch tape (or any tape that has that smooth finish on the non-sticky side), and run it along the bottom of my mouse cord. I only tape about 4-5 inches, given that's all I'll ever need to move my mouse around but tape off as much as needed.

So instead of your bare cord rubbing against your mouse pad, it'll now simply glide over it.

Sorry - no offense intended.
My mouse cord used to annoy me.
I got a wireless mouse and keyboard, now no wires cluttering my desk or obstructing my mouse movement - it is great...
