Hi All,

Hopefully someone can suggest a next step. I'm stuck! Thanks.

Symptoms:

The keyboard repeats letters. It repeats about 10 letters on the right hand side of the keyboard, about 5 letters in the middle, and none on the left. It repeats less letters if you very quickly down/up a key.

The repeat happens in the BIOS as well as Windows.

Troubleshooting:

Initially started playing with all sorts of Windows settings of repeat keys, bounce keys, filter keys until I booted to BIOS and found similar behavior. I also booted to the Windows recovery to check out if a driver difference might exist, but found no easy way to verify. (In BIOS, up/down keys repeat)

I attached a Bluetooth keyboard which has no problems in Windows.

Searched the web and Lenovo’s site. It doesn’t appear, although there are some repeating key problems after dumping coffee on keyboards.

Got a replacement keyboard. It does the same thing.

Summary

It appears to be hardware. Since it's likely not the keyboard, that leaves ribbon cable contacts and the motherboard?

Not sure if this really applies to you but I had a similar problem. I used to press my elbow in my laptop's surface (next to the touchpad) a lot and that caused something to go wrong with on the inside. All I did was less tighten some screws at the bottom and now it works.
