One day I was playing fine then the next day it started having these issues. I don't know what happened, I didn't change any settings. I contacted NVIDIA support and they tried to help but nothing worked. I changed NVIDIA control panel settings, I restored my PC to a certain date, they gave me a hotfix that didn't work either. There were other things they made me do but to no avail. Finally, they told me to probably contact MSI or maybe I need to upgrade my BIOS.

Specs:

MSI GTX 970 gaming 4g
i5 4460
Asrock H97 Fality Performance motherboad.

Solution
How can the GPU be at 40 F at idle? it's just 4C!

And CPU reaching 200F / 93c ? running it at this temperature continuosly is not normal.

Check if heatsink is fitted in perfectly, reapply thermal paste.

After looking at MSI afterburner it says my GPU is at 40 degrees F but my CPU cores (2-4) are at around 200 degree F and one of them is actually at 0 degrees F...? That's bad..

^ TROLLOLOLOOL at the 40 F idle GPU lol

Anyway I opened up my case and I saw that two of the legs that attached the fan to the CPU were out of place and were loose. I fixed that and it's now running smoothly with CPU at 38 C trollololol. This is too funny. Anyway thanks man.
