No sound out of pc

Hey so i just built a brand new pc last night. The first problem was that i wasnt connecting to the internet. I then downloaded new drivers off the disc to fix that, Now the second problem is that i'm not getting any sound out of my monitors speakers with a hdmi cord. Can anyone please help me out here i just want to start gaming i've waited to freaking long to build this thing.

Right-click the volume control icon on the bottom taskbar and click on "Playback Devices" to open the pop-up window for sound options. In the "Playback" tab, select "Digital Output Device" or "HDMI" as the default device, click "Set Default" and click "OK" to save the changes. This method works with a straight HDMI-to-HDMI connection
