I have this model of external hard drive: http://imgur.com/kCjmLpj - and have had it for at least three years.

I recently moved. After the move, I plugged in the drive and noticed that it was having difficulty registering. When I touched the back of the drive, it felt very hot, so I forcibly unplugged it from the power socket, then yanked out the power cable from the drive. It had melted, and was smoking! Luckily, it didn't catch fire. But the plastic of the power port had fused, so it was impossible to plug it in again, or clean it out by any method other than a chisel.

Luckily, the whole bottom of the drive was easy to detach, and I hooked it up to my computer like this: http://imgur.com/lBDBT4b

However, my computer said that it could not read the drive and wanted to reformat it. I opened up disk management and it showed this: http://imgur.com/CptwJg5 (the drive is "Disk 0")

How do I recover the data from this drive?
