Hello, guys I need an advice. I'm planning to upgrade my pc (graphics and PSU) and I was thinking if I should change my CPU as well since I have the one in the title and I found only old threads so they weren't actual. I'm going to buy gtx 970 and along with this card is the cpu enough or should I be looking for a new one? If yes, which one would you choose? Assuming I don't have that big of a budget.

Thanks for answers :)

Question is a bit off, so are you willing to upgrade all three items? if not and you are on a budget theeeennn, stay with the CPU and upgrade the video card and PSU. if you can squeeze a couple of bills more, get the 4690k, great chip on a budget. But if I had to choose, I would spend the cash on the graphics and PSU. Your chip is not the greatest of the Haswell family, but it will hold well until you get the extra cash. who knows, you might be happy with the 4440. just try it!

Thanks guys for answers, vinnie_febs, I meant I could get couple of bucks more(I am a student so not much :D) but I wanted to know if it's necessary. So do you think I should definitely upgrade the CPU later, too?

In that case, upgrade the graphics and PSU, chip can be last. Try it, who knows, you might be happy with the results. I think you will be just fine. Which 970 were you thinking of getting? Make sure you get a good PSU, you will need it since you will be OC the 970..... I'm assuming you will

Haha man I don't understand much about computer hardware so I don't really know what PSU (widely open for suggestions :D but I would like to have som reserve power) and ye I might OC it but I've never done it so I would have to learn something on that topic too :p :D

PSUs are extremely important and usually overlooked by many new builders. I'm a huge fan of this guy, it is a perfect mid size in a budget PSU with plenty of room for extra accessories. Maybe you will decide to throw a K intel chip down the road; no problem, plenty of juice for overclocking that too

Yep pretty much as you say, by the way when it comes to changing CPU it isn't that easy as GPU i guess, what do I have to do?
By the way isn't 100bucks for a PSU too much? :D

Mainly you need to ensure you get the same socket CPU, right now you are using a motherboard with the 1150 socket support. There is not much to it, mainly socket and chip architecture matching/support, but mainly the socket. What's your motherboard?
But again, this is not a bad CPU. Just keep it for now and cross that bridge later. Right now invest on the GTX 970 and the PSU and no, that's actually a pretty good price for a Tier 1 PSU and that's what you want, THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED hahaha

Well then :D I'm going to get that GPU and PSU next month, Im so hyped for that :D I mean we have not had much money so I didn't have very powerful PC but now when I have my own job I can upgrade it however I want :D
Btw what about this one? https://www.alza.sk/fortron-hyper-s-600-d2922021.htm?catid=18849164 - it's my country's site but the main characteristics are shortcuts so you could take a look

Among the worst man, stay away from that one. You will be very happy with this setup.

Oh really, well then :D I don't want to buy from abroad so I looked for that model in this shop, maybe this one is the most similiar https://www.alza.sk/evga-supernova-650-g1-d2192751.htm?catid=18849164, but I have a question that 2x 8pin EPS is ther additional power that goes to the GPU?

It depends which 970 you are getting, either way, you will be supplied with everything you need between the PSU and/or the card. PSU is good, its one level below the one I selected but the better choice considering. It still a solid choice!

Thanks :) For the 970 I've been thinking of this one: https://www.alza.sk/asus-strix-gtx970-dc2oc-4gd5-d2169036.htm but this one might be too big for my case, maybe you could suggest one? By the way what are the differences between them at all?

This is the one you do not want. Differences is the way they cool the chip and the core clock for the most part, among other things. If I was you, I would look for these in this order EVGA FTW 2.0+---->Giagyte 1G------>MSI Gaming 4GB . These are all great variants of the 970 and very closely matched.

Okay I checked them and the second one's too big for my case prolly ( :D ) and in the third one people report coil whine and I would not like to face that :D Althought the first one's quite expensive I might go with that, by the way where do you look up all this stuff? I mean I'd like to know too because.. well I don't want to go to forum with every question I have :D

Same place you go for answers, only differences is that I've been searching and reading for years. I am always looking at youtube reviews, reading reviews, and reading folk's experiences. Just being within the community and constantly reading, trying and working with various components through your life, you will learn via trial and error.

Each VGA cable has two 6pin connector with one having an extra split 2pin that can be added combined with one of the 6pin. You will use one VGA cable connector, like VGA1. VGA2, VGA3 are for extra cards if you doing SLI config.

not sure where you see 4+4, can't really read the page. But all you need to power the card is one 6pin and one 8pin. both supplied

Looks something like this:
