I've been on pcpartpicker.com a lot lately and just recently I decided to buy a Fractal R5 case with a window. Now I just need a pc to put into it, and I've finished the build I want but it costs a pretty penny. Does anyone have any tips to lower the price of the overall pc without putting into consideration the case? IE. swapping brands, changing priorities, etc. My goal when I was making this computer was to beat the Lenovo y700 from Best Buy that costs around $1050.00. Thank you Tomshardware community!

With that board, you can overclock a non-K processor so you can save money by buying i5-6500 Skylake.
GTX 970 is a monster card for 1080p and will easily handle whatever you throw at it.
8GB of RAM is enough for any type of gaming. SSD+HDD combo is always nice to have.
The case I chose is roomy and cool while the power supply is high quality.

My budget is 1000-1200 MAX. Like I said I'm trying to best the Lenovo while not overpaying for the individual parts.
The build is mostly for a silent gaming PC for games like csgo,dota2,tf2. Not very intensive games in general. Maybe SW BattleFront. But that would be the most intensive game I would be playing. And I was planning on overclocking the cpu to 4.4 ghz. But I'm still a bit skeptical about overclocking I've never had a system that has been overclockable.

Thank you for the build! In general I think it's really great. I didn't know that mother boards like that existed for skylake processor's yet and that's definantly a huge performance boost. Also I already have the case its an R5 with a window so thats another $60 off! My only concerns is the EVGA GTX 970 I've heard bad things about EVGA and would it be okay if I switched it out with a 970 Strix? Also how would this effect the system audibly? I bought the parts previously trying to make a relatively quiet system. Also what programs do you recommend for overclocking the cpu on that board or is it in the bios? Thank you so much!
