Hello i am building a new pc with an i5 6400 and a Thermaltake Smart SE 630w on it and i want to buy the cheapest gpu from one of these 2 categories..i will be mostly doing games and some music production
In my countrie the cheapest is the gtx 960 gigabyte(226$)/palit(227$)/msi(simple) with228$
Then the cheapest r9 is xfx(232$),sapphire(236$),gigabyte(240$)
So..i see that the gtx has much more proc speed and mem speed and it has less power cons.but its 128 bit
The 380 on the other hand has much less proc speed and mem speed and has more power cons but its 256 bit and also more expensive than the gtx..

So..what should i buy and which brand is the best..

Here's a good example...

The 960 is like an economy car that gets good gas mileage but isn't very fast

The 380 is like your "big brother's" Hot Rod Sports Car... goes fast, picks up the babes, but gets bad gas mileage.

So you need to decide... do you want to take it slow and easy (960) or get a little sporty (380)

Kinda depends on whats more important to you. The 380 is faster but also produces more heat and uses more power. The 960 is a little slower but less heat and less power consumption. I would probably go with the 960 just based of the quality of the PSU(tier 4) it uses cheaper caps that cant take the heat. The 380 is going to dump more heat in the case and use more power and the PSU will run warmer and likely decrease the lifespan of the psu more than the 960 would.

i've alternated between Radeon and GeForce for every computer i've owned since my first GPU i can remember w/ a Radeon 9800 Pro..

At the moment, amd is just a better buy.

If nvidia were to deliver a sweeping round of price cuts, that could change very quickly :)
